Born at Suame in Kumasi in the early 70’s, Esther joined the Tesano Methodist church choir at the tender age of 14 and that was when she grew more into music. After her secondary education, she attended Garden City Computer Training and Typing School and the School of Languages both in Kumasi. She joined the House of Faith Ministry in 1990 and later became a member of the church choir, Voices of Faith. She again joined a singing group set up by Kapital Radio a private radio station in Kumasi. According to Esther, she started writing her songs after she had joined the Voices of Faith Choir in the early 1990’s. Ironically, the first song she wrote and which she calls Ewurade Wo Din No Hyeren is still in her drawer. Notwithstanding the difficulties she went through in her quest to release her maiden album, Gye No Di, Esther made a break through when she had support from Ankobea Music Production. She said Gye No Di, the title song of her maiden album which took three awards at the 2

Image
The Presiding Archbishop and General Overseer of the Action Chapel International, Duncan-Williams, has revealed how he lost his fingers. According to him, growing up, he battled with spirits and was instructed to dip his fingers into fire. In an exclusive interview with Bola Ray on Starr Chat, the Archbishop said:  “At age 20 something significant happened. I had nightmares, hallucination and heard voices at home; spiritual voices contending with the voice of truth, grace. I was captured by the spirit, instructed by it to light a candle and dip my hands into the burning flame.” “I obeyed without question but with pain. My lips at a point were sealed until the pain had become unbearable. My fingers darkened in the flames until they turned into ashes. My shouts attracted siblings who came and rushed me to Korle Bu Hospital where I was admitted for months.” The motive for visiting shrines at that tender age, Archbishop Duncan-Williams said was due to his thirst for success. Gh¢1m Scandal Hits National Sports Authority

A whopping amount of Gh¢1,006,644.73 remains unaccounted for at the National Sports Authority. Out of the amount, a finance officer is expected to refund an unreceipted expenditure of Gh¢726,954.95. Investigations have revealed that the pay officer whose name is yet to be made public has no receipt covering 54 payment vouchers. Auditors are on the heels of management of the Sports Authority and the finance officer to provide receipts but to no avail. In the absence of valid receipts to authenticate the payments, the Auditor General has recommended that the payment remains invalid “and the paying officer be surcharged with the amount involved.” Also, auditors have uncovered that 49 payment vouchers amounting to Gh¢279,689.78 were not presented for audit. “This could be ascribed to making payments before raising the necessary payment vouchers and the inability to properly preserve paid vouchers. As a result, we could not ascertain whether the payments were authorised and app

Kufuor mocks NDC for opposition to free SHS

Image
Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has mocked the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for continually kicking against the free SHS policy. According to him, the largest opposition political party in the country had always stated that the policy is impossible, yet the laudable programme is coming off next month. Mr. Kufuor noted that President Nana Akufo-Addo had been consistent and firm in his strong belief that the education policy is what Ghana needs to transform the nation. He said even though the majority of Ghanaians have wholeheartedly embraced the policy and even hailed the NPP administration, the NDC had surprisingly kicked against such a positive policy, which will boost Ghana’s growth. “Nana Akufo-Addo had insisted that the Free SHS policy is possible during the two times that he contested for the presidency and lost and on his third attempt, he again stressed that the Free SHS will come, and indeed it is coming,” the former president said. He admonished Ghanaia

I Saw Castro And Janet Bandu's Bodies - Diver Claims

Image
A man who claims to be a diver employed by Asamoah Gyan following the disappearance of Castro and Janet Bandu three years ago says he managed to find the bodies of the duo at the bottom of the river but the gods would not allow him to bring it back. The man, identified as Samuel Odartey Lamptey, said the duo are dead and not missing as some people claim and he definitely found their bodies. Lamptey spoke to Kofi TV and spilled his guts, claiming Asamoah Gyan contacted him just after the two went missing to find them for him if he could. “I was called two days after the incident and I agreed to go and help them. It was in the evening but I decided to go and search for them right away. They rented a canoe for me and I set off. I found them under the water after about four days,” he said. The diver said despite finding the bodies, a god, who appeared to him in the form of the snake, stopped him from bringing them up. “I saw their bodies but when I tried to touch them, a big s

According to Ras Kuuku, one of the key members in his camp drew his attention to a video posted on Facebook with fellow Dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy describing him as a ‘Hungry Rasta man’. But while surfing the Facebook page, he realized it had been removed. Interestingly, the Rastafarian further claimed a faceless person gave his manager, ‘Da Biggest boss’ a second chance to the video, nonetheless after watching it, he never heard Stonebwoy refer to him as such – rather someone at the back seat teased. “I was called to visit Facebook but the video was deleted. There was nothing like that. So later s

NDC MP demands apology from Otabil over 'insult' comment

Image
Member of Parliament for Ho Central is demanding an apology from Founder and Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), over his 'insult' comments. Benjamin Kpodo wants Dr Mensa Otabil to rather react to allegations that the board of directors including him may not have managed the bank properly leading to the collapse of one of Capital Bank last Monday. "He should have responded directly to the issues of the shares his church and Otabil and Associates have in the collapsed bank and perhaps appealing to people that they should forgive him for what happened," he said. His comments follow Dr Otabil's Sunday sermon in which the man of God reacted to public criticisms following the collapse of the bank. Last week, the Minority led by Casseil Ato Forson and Mr Kpodo demanded a bi-partisan probe into the circumstances surrounding the collapse of two indigenous banks in the country, UT and Capital Banks. The Central Bank said the two banks are we
